Surface boils on the Padma

Turbulence in the Padma river causes “boils” to appear at the water surface. These features look as if the water is bubbling, or boiling, but are actually caused by turbulence from mixing currents and/or flow diverted due to bedforms, which is forced towards the surface. This video was shot by Greg Sambrook Smith on the Padma River, Bangdesh in June 2013 from the research vessel MV Koklimoni.
